Taramosalata (Fish roe salad - meze)

Taramosalata is one of those dishes.   It is roe fish blended into a creamy pink dip of pureed potatoes with parsley, lemon juice, and finely chopped onion (optional).   In meze, this is one of the first dishes that it is served.   In taverns, they always bring it along with salad, tzatziki, and tahini.   We will talk about the last two later.   Well, let’s see our recipe…   Ingredients 2 kg tarama (fish roe). 1 large potato or two small ones 450gr of Greek bread 1 tsp of shredded and dried onion 1 cup olive oil The juice of one lemon (medium size) Tarama is the hardest ingredient to find, so it is a good idea to look at groceries that import Mediterranean food. It is usually sold in larger jars, but you can store the remainder in the freezer for months. Peel the potatoes and cut t

Fruit Ice Cream in Minutes!

For the last year or so, I am on a diet. So I always try to find ways to satisfy my appetite with delicious, healthy, and tasty desserts.
Tonight I was craving for ice-cream, so I thought I will try something new. I opened the fridge and I saw yogurt, apples, pears, and blackberries. My ice-cream was almost done!!

Here you can see all the ingredients besides the honey. Sorry, I forgot it...

But here you can see all ingredients including honey :-) !!!

One pear, one apple, 15 blackberries,  200mg yogurt, 2 tablespoons of vanilla flavor or essence and 2-3 tablespoons of honey combined together in a blender.  Then 10 minutes in the freezer and 5 minutes in the ice-cream machine.

The ice cream is almost ready... Not to worry about sugar, fresh cream, or added unhealthy ingredients.  Ice cream perfect for everybody!!

Enjoy!

  18. I really need to invest an ice cream maker coz that looks delicious! Any idea how this would turn out if i did not use an ice cream maker and just left it to chill in the freezer for a few hours?

  19. Thank you for visiting my blog. A few hours in the freezer might make it hard, so I suggest you leave it in the freezer maximum 40 minutes, give it a nice stir and repeat this process every 15 minutes until you are satisfied with the result. An ice cream maker is the perfect solution though... :-)
